Building ERA #811: Engine
While ERA is fabricating the chassis and body I'm building the engine. All-aluminum small-block 427 with Cleveland-style heads, EFI, etc.

Short block complete. Note Innovator's West cam belt drive. This photo shows the heads temporarily installed to measure for push rod length.

Christmas came early! Ford Racing aluminum, 9.5" deck height, 4.125" bore.

4-bolt Cleveland-size mains; ARP studs & bolts.

A weak area in Windsor blocks is the lifter valley; note the webs added to this block. Unfortunately this complicates the use of the stock-type roller lifter guide "spider".

Test fit of the Crower 4" stroke crank. Good clearance to the block!

Checking to make sure the Comp cam and low-travel hydraulic roller lifters didn't come out of the lifter bores - all good!

Crower 6.2" rods with 2" big end to reduce weight and increase clearance within the block.

Jon Kaase C400 Cleveland-style heads. Need to open up some coolant passages in the block to work with the Cleveland heads.

Kaase C400 Cleveland-style heads. Raised intake and exhaust ports, CNC milled. Stainless valves with Comp conical valve springs. T&D shaft-mount roller rockers.
